Cellular Ageing & Signs on the SkinNewstead, Brisbane
Body Dezign House is a doctor-led clinic in Newstead, Brisbane. Cellular ageing is the slow build-up of change inside your skin cells over the years. Bit by bit, it shapes how your skin looks, behaves and repairs itself. Every consultation here is guided by your own skin and looks at the whole picture.
Cellular ageing is not one thing. It is a slow conversation between sun, sleep, hormones and genetics, written into the skin over many years. What we read in clinic is the current state of that conversation, not a single moment, and a meaningful plan begins from that whole picture.Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP
Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP brings two decades in cosmetic medicine and general practice to every consultation. She is a Key Opinion Leader for Merz Aesthetics and an Official Trainer for Aptos Threads. This reflects her ongoing role in cosmetic medicine education, including attending national and international conferences, training other doctors and nurses, and contributing her clinical knowledge to the wider medical aesthetics community.
Our approach to cellular ageing is careful and honest. We look at what is really driving the visible signs, how your skin behaves and repairs, and what it can realistically support. Then we weigh whether an option will serve your long-term skin health, or whether a different approach or a referral would serve you better.
Areas Commonly
Assessed
Cellular ageing can show in a few different ways. Sometimes it is on the surface, sometimes in the deeper support, sometimes in how well the skin holds water, and often a mix of all three. At our Newstead clinic in Brisbane, we look at each one as part of the whole face.
Skin Quality
& Radiance
The way your skin reflects light depends on cell turnover, hydration, and blood flow. As cellular ageing sets in, that changes, and the skin can look duller, less even, and less resilient. At our Newstead clinic we look at tone, evenness, and the overall quality of your skin's surface in Brisbane light.
Fine Lines
& Surface Texture
Fine lines and crepiness are early signs that collagen and elastin are falling. Rough texture is tied to cell turnover, surface hydration, and built-up sun exposure. We look at how deep the changes are, where they sit, and what is driving each one.
Pigmentation
& Sun Damage
Uneven pigmentation, sunspots, and a loss of even tone are common surface signs of sun ageing. We review their pattern alongside the other signs of cellular change.
Hydration
& Barrier Function
How well your skin holds moisture and copes with the outside world depends on how intact its barrier is. With cellular ageing, the skin holds less water and the barrier can turn more reactive. We look at comfort, reactivity, and the overall state of the surface.
Volume
& Tissue Quality
As cells age, collagen and elastin are made more slowly and the supporting matrix slowly thins. Over time, volume softens and tissue quality changes in ways you can read across the whole face. We assess these shifts alongside bone, fat pads, and the skin on top, so any discussion looks at the whole structure, not just the surface.
Repair
& Recovery
Slower healing, lingering redness, and a longer recovery from minor irritation can point to lower cellular reserve. These signs shape how we discuss your options at your Brisbane consultation.
Skin that once bounced back overnight now needs a day or two. When I see dullness or slow recovery, the cause is usually deep in the cells. The skin renews itself more slowly. Its tiny energy engines wind down with age. And it simply cannot repair the wear of each day the way it once did, in a way that surface care alone cannot reach. A good consultation reads both the surface and the biology underneath it. And it stays honest about which concerns a clinical approach can truly help.Dr Fatemeh Asadi MD, FRACGP · GP & Cosmetic Physician
Your Consultation
in Brisbane
Your consultation at our Brisbane clinic starts with a conversation about your concerns and what you would like to achieve. We review your medical history, carefully assess your skin, and use VISIA skin analysis where appropriate to gain a better understanding of your skin's condition. We then explain our findings, discuss the treatment options that may be suitable for you, and answer your questions so you have a clear understanding of the benefits, possible risks, and alternatives before deciding whether to proceed. Treatments We
May Discuss
The treatments listed here are examples of what may be considered. They are not a treatment plan and do not mean you will need all of them. Your recommendation may include one option, a combination, or a different approach altogether after your skin has been properly assessed at our Brisbane clinic.
Skin Boosters
Skin boosters use medicines that hydrate and support the deeper layers of your skin. They can help with surface dullness, fine lines, and loss of bounce. Whether a skin booster suits you, and which medicine fits your skin, is only decided at a full consultation.
PRX-Plus
A bio-revitalisation approach that supports skin quality from within. Worth discussing for surface texture, radiance and overall skin tone in the context of cellular ageing.
PRP
Uses your own platelet-rich plasma to support skin quality and natural repair. Worth discussing if you want a regenerative approach to the surface signs of cellular ageing.
Laser Genesis
A gentle, non-ablative laser that supports collagen and helps with redness and surface tone. Worth discussing for early to moderate signs of cellular ageing on the face and neck.
Lumecca IPL
Intense pulsed light to help with pigmentation, redness, and uneven surface tone from sun ageing. A dedicated consultation is required.
Morpheus8
Combines radiofrequency energy with microneedling to support tissue renewal and skin quality in the deeper layers. May be worth discussing for skin laxity, texture, and tone.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing
CO2 Laser Resurfacing may suit ageing skin quality, fine lines, collagen support, and surface texture, where it is clinically appropriate. Whether it suits you, the downtime, and your skin type are all assessed at a full consultation. Suitability depends on your skin type, your concern, how much downtime you can take, and a medical assessment.
CoolPeel CO2 Laser
CoolPeel CO2 Laser is a lighter resurfacing option with less social downtime, which may suit you if recovery time matters. It can be discussed at consultation for fine lines, skin texture, and early signs of skin quality change. Suitability is assessed at consultation.
Exosome Therapy
A regenerative approach that uses cell-signalling components to support skin quality and recovery. Worth discussing where cellular ageing comes with slower repair.
Healite II
Low-level light therapy to support recovery, surface comfort, and cell activity. Often paired with other treatments to support overall skin health.
Dermaceutic C25 Cream Antioxidant Concentrate
A vitamin C antioxidant concentrate we stock, often discussed for dull-looking skin exposed to sun and city life.
All cosmetic procedures carry some risk and possible side effects. Whether a treatment suits you, what might rule it out, and the full range of possible complications are all discussed at your consultation. Individual results vary, and no outcome can be guaranteed. Frequently
Asked
Skin ages for two kinds of reasons. Intrinsic ones come from within: genetics, hormone changes, and the natural wear of cells over time. Extrinsic ones come from outside: sun exposure, smoking, diet, sleep, and lifestyle. Both change your collagen, elastin, hydration, and skin barrier, and both show on the surface over time. We assess both at your consultation.
Some early to moderate signs of cellular ageing may respond to options that support skin quality, hydration, and collagen over time. More advanced laxity or volume loss may be better served by a surgical opinion, such as a face or neck lift. What suits you is decided at a consultation, not online.
Intrinsic ageing is the slow change happening inside your cells: less collagen and elastin, slower cell turnover, and natural shifts in skin structure. Extrinsic ageing comes from outside, mainly UV exposure (photoageing), pollution, and lifestyle. Most visible signs are a mix of both, and we assess the balance at your consultation.
Results vary with the approach used, your skin biology, your sun protection, and your lifestyle. Some changes in skin quality build slowly over weeks to months as collagen is supported. Your clinician will talk through likely timing and how long it lasts at your Newstead consultation. Individual results vary.
There is no single starting age. Preventive skin care works best when it is matched to your skin's current state and your own concerns, not to a birthday. Caring for skin quality, sun protection, and the skin barrier early on usually helps, but exactly when and how is something we discuss at consultation.
Sun exposure is the single biggest outside cause of visible skin ageing. Sleep, diet, smoking, alcohol, and stress also affect cell health and how the skin renews. We talk through these openly at your consultation, so any option is considered in the context of your whole picture.
All cosmetic procedures carry risks, including bruising, swelling, asymmetry, infection, vascular events, and unsatisfactory cosmetic outcome. The specific risks depend on the treatment. They are explained in full at your consultation, and again on the day of treatment. Full information is available on our Risks & Complications page.
