Hand RejuvenationNewstead, Brisbane
Body Dezign House is a doctor-led clinic in Newstead, Brisbane. Hands are often the first place age shows, and the last place people think to protect. We start with an honest look at the skin, its structure, and the pattern of pigmentation, or sun spots. Then we talk through which approach suits your hands, guided by your own anatomy and with no obligation to go ahead.
The hand shows age before the face does, because there is nothing to hide behind. What looks like aged hands is usually three quiet losses together: collagen and fat thinning in the skin, years of sun building up on skin nobody thinks to protect, and daily use wearing down a hand built with almost no reserve. A good consultation reads each layer on its own, and is honest about what each treatment can and cannot do.Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP

Our approach is careful and honest. We look at what is really driving your concern. It might be collagen loss and thinning skin, years of sun showing as spots and uneven tone, loss of fat and fullness, or a mix of these. We also look at whether any treatment is genuinely right for you.
Areas Commonly
Assessed
Hand ageing shows up in several different ways, and each one needs a different approach. At our Newstead clinic in Brisbane, we look at the skin, the structure and the surface together, before any treatment is discussed.
Skin Laxity
& Firmness
Loss of firmness on the back of the hand is one of the first changes people notice. It is often described as crepey skin, or skin that no longer sits smoothly over the tendons. We look at how thick and resilient the skin still is, how much support is left underneath, and whether the change is mainly about collagen, volume, or both.
Volume
& Soft Tissue
There are small fat pads between the skin and the deeper parts of the hand. As these thin over time, the tendons and veins start to show through. This is a change in structure, not skin quality. We assess the two separately, so the right treatment is matched to the right layer.
Pigmentation
& Sun Spots
We look at brown spots (solar lentigines, the marks left by years of sun) and check how deep they sit and how they are spread. If they are worse on the left hand, that usually points to driving. We note this alongside your wider sun history. The right approach for surface pigmentation depends on your skin tone and how deep the change goes.
Skin Texture
& Surface Quality
Rough texture, visible pores, fine creping and dryness on the back of the hand are signs of skin change and years of sun. These often respond to skin quality treatments differently from the more structural changes. We assess them on their own, so the plan is targeted to what your skin actually needs.
Photoageing
& Uneven Tone
Years of sun on unprotected hands leave a pattern of uneven tone, brown patches and rough skin that often mirrors your own time in the Brisbane sun. We check whether the change is mainly on the surface (the pigment you can see) or deeper, and whether it sits mostly on one hand. When it is worse on one side, that usually points to sun through the car window. All of this shapes whether a laser approach, a skin quality approach, or both, suits your pattern.
Vein
& Tendon Visibility
Standing-out veins and visible tendons on the back of the hand are mainly about lost volume and structure. We note how prominent they are, and whether restoring some fullness alongside skin quality treatment is likely to help.
Our hands tell the story of a lifetime. Years of sun, daily use, and natural ageing slowly change the skin, and veins, tendons and lost volume start to show. I like to understand each layer on its own, and choose treatments that help hands look healthier and fresher while keeping their natural character. The goal is not perfection. It is hands that look refreshed and sit in harmony with the rest of you.Dr Fatemeh Asadi MD, FRACGP · GP & Cosmetic Physician
Your Consultation

Your consultation at our Brisbane clinic starts with a conversation about your concerns and what you would like to achieve. We review your medical history, carefully assess the hands, and use VISIA skin analysis where appropriate to gain a better understanding of your skin's condition. Treatments We
May Discuss
The treatments listed here are examples of what may be considered. They are not a treatment plan and do not mean you will need all of them. Your recommendation may include one option, a combination, or a different approach altogether after your skin has been properly assessed at our Brisbane clinic.
Collagen Stimulation
If your hands have lost firmness and the skin has started to look crepey, an in-clinic treatment that supports your skin's own collagen over time may be an option. We describe how it works, what it can realistically do, and what the course involves, in the consultation room. Whether it suits your hands, and which approach is right, is only decided at a one-on-one consultation at our Newstead clinic.
PRX-Plus Biorevitalisation
PRX-Plus is a topical treatment that helps the skin renew itself from within, without the visible peeling of a traditional peel. It suits the hands when the goal is better skin quality, smoother texture, more even tone, and early crepiness, with little downtime. We usually talk through a course of sessions rather than a single one.
Microneedling with ASCE Skin Booster
Microneedling creates tiny channels in the skin, which let a premium skin booster such as ASCE exosome therapy reach the deeper layers directly. Together they support skin quality, collagen activity and renewal. We may discuss this for texture, early loss of firmness, and overall skin quality on the back of the hand.
Morpheus8 RF Microneedling
Morpheus8 combines radiofrequency energy with microneedling to support firming and collagen activity in the deeper skin. On the hands, we may discuss it for loss of firmness and texture, where a deeper approach suits. Whether it is right for you is assessed at consultation.
Vivace RF Microneedling
Vivace uses fine microneedling tips to deliver radiofrequency energy with care and precision, which helps support collagen. We may discuss it for skin quality and mild loss of firmness on the hands, where a more targeted approach suits your skin.
CoolView Laser
CoolView laser may be discussed for sun spots and sun damage on the hands, including the brown spots (solar lentigines) left by years of unprotected driving or time outdoors. The approach, and how many sessions you might need, depends on your skin tone, how deep the spots sit, and how widespread they are. A full consultation is needed before any treatment for pigmentation.
Lumecca IPL
Lumecca uses intense pulsed light to treat sun spots, brown marks and uneven tone from years of sun on the hands. We may discuss it where the pattern fits sun damage and your skin tone suits IPL. We always talk about it alongside ongoing sun protection as part of any plan for pigmentation.
All cosmetic procedures carry some risk and possible side effects. Whether a treatment suits you, what might rule it out, and the full list of possible complications are all discussed at your consultation. Individual results vary. No outcome can be guaranteed. Read about Risks & Complications →

Frequently
Asked
The skin on the back of the hand is thinner than the skin on the face, has very little fat underneath, and gets far less daily moisturiser and sun protection. So collagen loss, volume change and sun damage all show up earlier and more plainly. There is no fat pad to soften the change, the way there is on the face, so veins and tendons start to stand out and the skin turns crepey sooner.
Brown spots on the hands (solar lentigines) come from years of sun adding up. In Australia, the hands catch a lot of sun outdoors and, in particular, from driving, where the left hand rests on the wheel or the door sill and gets direct sun through the window. Most people put sunscreen on the face but skip the hands, so the hands often carry more lifetime sun than the face by middle age.
Mild to moderate loss of firmness, volume and tone on the hands may respond to in-clinic treatments. These can include treatments that support your skin's own collagen, skin resurfacing, or regenerative skin boosters. More marked structural change may be better served by a surgical opinion. What suits you depends on the specific picture of your hands, and that is decided at a consultation. Individual results vary.
It depends on the treatment, how well you protect your hands from the sun afterwards, and how your skin keeps ageing. Treatments that build collagen take weeks to months to show, and they build up slowly. Sun protection is the single biggest thing that keeps your hands looking good after any treatment. Your clinician will talk through the timing and any upkeep at your Brisbane consultation. Individual results vary.
Yes, and it is one of the most overlooked causes of hand ageing in Australia. Our drivers sit on the right, so the left hand on the wheel or window sill catches direct sun through the window, again and again. Over years of daily driving with no sunscreen on the hands, this adds up to uneven tone, early loss of firmness and dull skin, usually on the left hand most of all.
Sun spots on the hands can often be treated with laser or intense pulsed light, and we talk through this at consultation. At Body Dezign House we may discuss CoolView laser or Lumecca IPL, depending on the pattern, how deep the spots sit, and your skin tone. What suits you, and the right approach, is decided at a full consultation.
All cosmetic procedures carry some risk. These can include bruising, swelling, unevenness, infection, problems with the blood vessels, and a result you are not happy with. The specific risks depend on the treatment, and we explain them in full at your consultation and again on the day. You can read more on our Risks & Complications page.
