Our approach to this laser is careful and honest. We look at how deep the concern sits, how widespread it is, how long you have had it, and your skin type. Then we weigh up whether CoolPeel is truly the right tool, or whether another option or a referral would serve you better.

How It Compares

CoolPeel vs
Traditional CO2

CoolPeel and a standard CO2 laser both use the same Tetra PRO, and both remove the outer layers of skin. The difference is what happens underneath. Knowing this helps you and your clinician choose the right approach for your skin and your life, here in Newstead, Brisbane.

Lower Downtime Option

Shorter Recovery
with CoolPeel

Most people have one to three days of redness and slightly rough skin after CoolPeel. A standard CO2 laser usually means five to seven days or more of peeling and redness. The difference comes from CoolPeel's short pulse, which leaves less heat in the skin. That makes it a practical choice if you want laser renewal but cannot take a full week away from normal life. Individual experience varies.

Surface Focus
vs Deeper Effect

CoolPeel works mainly at the surface. It suits uneven texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, and surface pigmentation. A standard CO2 laser, with its deeper heat, is better for deeper scars, looser skin (skin laxity), and concerns that need a stronger push to build collagen. Some people do best with a course of CoolPeel and then one standard session for the deeper work. We talk this through at your consultation, based on what your skin needs.

Course of Sessions
vs Single Treatment

CoolPeel is usually done as a course of three to four sessions, four to six weeks apart. This lets your skin renew step by step, with a short recovery each time. A standard CO2 laser can do more in one session, but it asks for a longer recovery all at once. The right choice depends on your concern, how much downtime you can take, and what fits your schedule.

Skin Type
Considerations

Because CoolPeel uses less heat, it can be a good starting point for more skin types. That includes skin that is more prone to dark marks after treatment (post-inflammatory pigmentation). We always check suitability for you in person. We look at your skin type, your history of sun exposure, and any pigmentation concerns. CoolPeel is not right for every skin type or every concern.

What It Can Address

Commonly
Assessed

CoolPeel suits surface skin-quality concerns, where the aim is gradual renewal with little disruption. Whether it is right for your concern and your skin type is confirmed at a full consultation in Newstead, Brisbane, led by Dr Asadi or her experienced team. We welcome CoolPeel enquiries from right across Brisbane.

Most Commonly Assessed

Skin Texture
& Pores

Rough or uneven texture and enlarged pores on the nose, cheeks, and chin are among the most common reasons people try CoolPeel. The laser removes the outer layers of skin, and the skin renews looking smoother and more even. Because CoolPeel is gentle, it works well over a course of sessions, each with a short, easy recovery. We discuss suitability and the likely number of sessions at your consultation. Individual results vary.

Fine Lines
& Early Wrinkles

Fine lines near the surface, especially around the eyes and mouth, respond well to CoolPeel. The laser removes the outer layers where fine lines show most, and the skin renews and softens over the weeks after each session. Deeper lines or looser skin may need a standard CO2 laser or another treatment, which we discuss at your assessment. Individual results vary.

Surface Pigmentation
& Uneven Tone

Surface pigmentation, including mild sun damage and uneven tone, can improve as CoolPeel renews the outer layers of skin. Because it uses less heat than a standard CO2 laser, it may suit skin where deeper heat carries a higher risk of dark marks. Deeper pigment, such as melasma (hormone-related patches), needs its own assessment. Your skin type is a big factor in whether CoolPeel is suitable.

Sun-Damaged
Skin

Mild sun damage, with rough patches and texture changes, can be worked on step by step across a CoolPeel course. Whether it suits you depends on your skin type and how much damage there is. We assess this at your consultation.

Around the Mouth
& Eyes

Fine lines and surface texture around the mouth and eyes can be treated with CoolPeel, using settings suited to these more delicate areas. We confirm suitability at your assessment and adjust the approach to the skin in each spot.

Overall Skin Quality
& Clarity

People often choose CoolPeel not for one single problem, but for an all-round lift in skin quality and clarity. Renewing the skin across a course of sessions can improve how it looks and feels overall, with each session building on the last. It is a practical choice if you want to keep your skin in good shape alongside other treatments in your plan.

Clinical Philosophy
Not everyone needs the strongest option on the menu. CoolPeel exists because some people do better with a gentler, step-by-step approach, and their skin thanks them for it. Choosing the right strength for the right person always matters more than reaching for the highest setting.

Options

Other Treatments
We May Discuss

CoolPeel often sits alongside other skin-quality treatments in a wider plan. Depending on your assessment and your goals, your clinician may suggest one of the following. They are not a treatment plan and do not mean you will need all of them. We discuss suitability at your consultation, and we always schedule treatments at the right time rather than combining them in one session.

Deeper Resurfacing Option

CO2 Laser Resurfacing

A standard CO2 laser on the Tetra PRO gives a deeper push to build collagen. It can reach concerns CoolPeel alone may not, such as deeper acne scars, looser skin, and surgical scars. For some people, a course of CoolPeel and then one standard CO2 session is the best plan. We discuss this at your consultation, based on your assessment.

Recovery & Healing Support

Healite II LED

A gentle LED light treatment that helps the skin recover. We sometimes suggest it in the days after CoolPeel, especially for more sensitive skin or a stronger session. We discuss the timing and whether to include it at your consultation.

Complementary Skin Quality

Laser Genesis

A gentle laser that works without removing the surface of the skin, used for tone, redness, and texture. We sometimes suggest it alongside a CoolPeel course when redness or uneven tone comes with the texture concerns. We space it sensibly from your CoolPeel sessions.

VISIA Skin Analysis

We use VISIA skin imaging at your first consultation to record a clear starting point for your skin, and at follow-ups to see how your skin responds across the course. Comparing the images between sessions helps your clinician adjust the plan and check the treatment is giving your skin what it needs.

Structural Support

Vivace RF Microneedling

Radiofrequency microneedling for skin quality and support deeper down. Where CoolPeel works on the surface, this works in the deeper layers of the skin (the dermis). Using both in a wider plan can treat different depths step by step. We always schedule the two separately.

Personalised Plan & Skincare

Personalised Treatment Plan

After a full consultation, we will prepare a personalised treatment plan based on your medical history, your skin, and the goals you have shared. The plan sets out the options that suit you best, the order treatments would be considered, how CoolPeel might fit with other approaches, and what would not be right for your situation. Where a treatment beyond CoolPeel may be an option, it is considered only one-on-one at consultation, after a careful check of your suitability and of anything that might make it unsafe, and it is recorded in your clinical notes. We do not discuss specific product names online, in line with Australian advertising rules.

Personalised Skincare

After VISIA skin analysis, we recommend a personalised skincare plan based on your skin and the concerns it actually shows, rather than a routine picked off a standard shelf. Where it suits you, some skincare can be prepared in the clinic for your skin in particular, so what you use at home matches what your skin needs. We review and adjust the home-care plan across your treatment as your skin changes.

Questions

Frequently
Asked

CoolPeel is a particular way of using a CO2 laser on the Tetra PRO. A standard CO2 laser removes the outer layers of skin and also sends heat into the deeper skin. That heat builds collagen, but it means several days to a week of downtime. CoolPeel sends each pulse in a very short, controlled burst. It renews the surface and leaves much less heat in the skin around it. So you get skin renewal with much less redness, swelling, and peeling than a standard CO2 laser, and a shorter recovery. We assess whether it suits you at your consultation.

Most people have one to three days of redness and slightly rough skin after a CoolPeel session. That is far less than a standard CO2 laser, which usually means five to seven days or more of peeling and redness. Your exact recovery depends on the settings used and your own skin. Your clinician will explain what to expect for your plan at your consultation. Individual experience varies.

CoolPeel may suit adults who want to work on skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores, surface pigmentation, or overall skin quality, and who value a shorter recovery. It is often a good first step for people who have not had laser resurfacing before, or who want gradual renewal across a course of sessions without much disruption. It does not suit everyone. Your skin type, your history of sun exposure, any active skin conditions, certain medicines, pregnancy, and any past cold sores in the area all affect whether it is right for you. This is decided at a consultation, not online. Individual results vary.

CoolPeel is usually done as a course rather than a single session. Three to four sessions, four to six weeks apart, is a common starting point, though this changes with your skin and your concern. We discuss the number of sessions and the gaps between them at your consultation. Individual results vary, and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.

Yes. Stay out of the sun for at least two to four weeks before each session and wear SPF 50+ every day. Strong skincare such as retinoids and exfoliating acids is usually paused a few days before treatment, and we confirm the exact timing at your consultation. If you have ever had cold sores in or near the area, tell your clinician, as we may suggest a preventive antiviral. Come with clean skin, free of makeup and skincare.

Most people find CoolPeel more comfortable than a standard CO2 laser. We put numbing cream on first, and the treatment itself is a series of short, warm pulses across the skin. Some people feel a mild snapping or prickling. A full face usually takes twenty to thirty minutes. We talk through how to keep you comfortable before every session.

Keep the area clean with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser, and use the healing ointment we recommend as directed. Do not rub or pick at any flaking skin. Stay out of direct sun, and use a mineral SPF 50+ once your skin has settled. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hard exercise, and swimming for the first 24 to 48 hours. We bring your usual skincare back in slowly. You get full aftercare instructions at your consultation, and again on the day.

All lasers that remove the surface of the skin carry some risk. This includes redness, swelling, changes in skin colour (darker or lighter), infection, scarring, blistering, and a result you are not happy with. CoolPeel's lower heat reduces some of these risks compared with a standard CO2 laser, but it does not remove them. We talk through the risks that apply to your skin type and your plan in full at your consultation, and again on the day. You can read more on our Risks & Complications page. Individual results vary.
