PRX-Plus ammonium TCA (ATCA) skin peel at Body Dezign House Newstead Brisbane
Ammonium TCA (ATCA) Peel

PRX-Plus & BiorevitalisationNewstead, Brisbane

Body Dezign House is a doctor-led clinic in Newstead, Brisbane. PRX-Plus is an ammonium TCA (ATCA) skin peel. It works in the deeper layers of your skin to help it firm and renew itself, but without the visible peeling and flaking a stronger peel can cause. It can help with dull, tired-looking skin, fine lines, mild looseness, and uneven tone, the sort of changes Brisbane sun tends to bring on over the years. Every PRX-Plus consultation here is guided by your anatomy, looks at your skin type and how strong your skin barrier is, and comes with no obligation to go ahead.

Understanding PRX-Plus

PRX-Plus
in Brisbane

About Dr Asadi
PRX-Plus is an ammonium TCA (ATCA) peel, and I think it helps to be plain about that. What makes it worth its own conversation is the formula. The ATCA reaches the deeper skin and prompts it to firm and renew, but with far less of the visible peeling you get from an ordinary TCA peel. So the real question is not how to manage a week of downtime, but how often to have it. It has a clear job: dull skin, early ageing in the deeper layers, and mild unevenness in texture. It does not replace a stronger peel or laser when a concern needs more depth.

At our Newstead clinic, PRX-Plus is a considered decision, not a default. How many sessions you need, how far apart they sit, and whether PRX-Plus suits your skin at all are decided at your consultation. If a stronger peel or a different treatment would serve you better, we will say so plainly rather than go ahead.

PRX-Plus Assessment

Concerns PRX-Plus
May Address

PRX-Plus is not the answer for every skin concern. It has a clear job. It suits early ageing in the deeper layers, dull skin, fine lines, mild looseness, uneven tone, and the small bumps and patches in texture that build up over years of Brisbane sun. Working out whether it is right for you starts with looking closely at what your skin is actually showing.

Most Commonly Assessed

Dullness
& Tired Skin

The most common reason people ask about PRX-Plus is skin that has slowly lost its glow. It reflects light less evenly than it used to, looks flat rather than fresh by the end of a working week, and your skincare no longer seems to do as much. PRX-Plus works on both the surface and the deeper skin, where this change is actually happening. It is usually part of a longer plan for your skin, not a one-off.

Fine Lines
& Early Wrinkles

Fine lines that show even when your face is relaxed, across the forehead, around the eyes, and around the mouth, often come from early changes in the deeper skin rather than muscle movement alone. PRX-Plus can be part of the answer here, especially when a stronger peel would be too harsh for the skin around them.

Enlarged
Pores

Enlarged pores usually come from a mix of oil activity and a loss of support in the skin around each pore. PRX-Plus is sometimes discussed when larger pores show up alongside dull, uneven skin.

Pigmentation
& Sun Damage

Surface pigmentation from years of Brisbane sun often sits alongside dull, uneven skin. PRX-Plus contains phytic acid, which helps with brightening, and may be part of a course where surface sun damage is part of the picture. Deeper or hormonal pigmentation such as melasma needs a more careful, gentler approach.

Acne Scarring
& Texture

Rolling unevenness in texture, mild acne scarring, and the small marks left behind over the years can sometimes improve with a course of PRX-Plus, often paired with skin needling for the deeper work. The ATCA reaches the deeper skin, where this kind of texture change actually sits, while the formula avoids the visible peeling that would otherwise get in the way of daily life. Whether it suits you is decided at your consultation, not by how your skin looks on the surface alone.

Neck &
Décolletage

PRX-Plus is also used on the neck, décolletage and hands. The skin here is thinner, has fewer oil glands, and tends to show sun damage earlier than the face. A course suited to these areas is talked through at your consultation.

Clinical Philosophy
Skin quality is built over time. PRX Plus works by stimulating skin renewal while preserving the skin's protective barrier, making it a valuable option for patients seeking brighter, firmer, and healthier-looking skin with minimal downtime.

Options

Approaches

Treatments We
May Discuss

The treatments listed here are examples of what may be considered. They are not a treatment plan and do not mean you will need all of them. PRX-Plus rarely does its full work in a single session, and a good plan usually combines a course of treatments with a daily skincare routine and steady sun protection. Your recommendation may include one option, a combination, or a different approach altogether after your skin has been properly assessed at our Newstead clinic in Brisbane.

Ammonium TCA (ATCA) Peel

PRX-Plus

An ammonium TCA (ATCA) skin peel for freshening and renewing skin without the visible peeling of an ordinary TCA peel. Its main ingredient, ammonium trichloroacetate (ATCA), prompts the skin to make fresh collagen with far less surface injury than a traditional TCA peel. It also contains homocysteic acid to help the skin renew itself, citric acid for a mild polish and antioxidant support, and phytic acid for brightening and uneven tone. Often used for dull skin, fine lines, early ageing, uneven tone, and overall skin quality, and well suited to people who cannot fit visible downtime into their week. Usually done as a course of 3 to 5 sessions, 1 to 2 weeks apart, followed by maintenance.

Complementary Resurfacing

Skin Peels

A range of medical-grade chemical peels at different strengths, chosen to match the depth and type of your concern. Where PRX-Plus is the no-downtime step, a stronger peel may suit when the surface needs more direct work, when sun damage or texture sits deeper than PRX-Plus can reach, or as part of a longer plan. We match the type of acid and the depth at your consultation.

Skin Needling with Special Serum

Medical-grade microneedling paired with carefully chosen special serums, used during and straight after treatment. The tiny channels let brightening, antioxidant, and tone-evening ingredients reach deeper than they could on their own. Often used alongside PRX-Plus when texture, mild scarring, and overall skin quality are best worked on together.

Laser Resurfacing

CO2 Laser Resurfacing

When skin texture, uneven tone, fine lines, or sun damage sit deeper than a no-downtime peel can reach, CO2 Laser Resurfacing may be worth discussing at your consultation. Whether it suits you depends on your skin type, your concern, how much downtime you can manage, and a medical assessment.

CoolPeel CO2 Laser

CoolPeel CO2 Laser is a lighter resurfacing option with less downtime, and may suit you if recovery time is a concern. It may be discussed alongside or after a PRX-Plus course when a little more depth is needed. Whether it suits you is assessed at your consultation.

Light-Based Support

Healite II

Low-level light therapy commonly discussed as a supportive step after biorevitalisation, peels and skin needling. Often included as a complementary session to encourage recovery and support overall skin quality during a treatment course.

All cosmetic procedures carry some risk and possible side effects. Whether a treatment suits you, what might rule it out, and the full range of possible complications are all discussed at your consultation. Individual results vary, and no outcome can be guaranteed. Questions

Frequently
Asked

PRX-Plus is an ammonium TCA (ATCA) skin peel. Its main ingredient is ammonium trichloroacetate (ATCA), a gentler, modified form of trichloroacetic acid. It prompts the deeper skin to firm and renew itself, but with far less of the visible peeling you get from an ordinary TCA peel. That is why most people see very little flaking, even though the peel is working in the deeper skin. It also contains homocysteic acid to help the skin renew, citric acid for a mild polish and antioxidant support, and phytic acid for brightening. So the difference from an ordinary TCA peel is the formula, not the type of peel.

Most people start with a course of 3 to 5 sessions, 1 to 2 weeks apart, though the exact number depends on your skin, your concern, and how well you tolerate it. A common plan is 5 sessions every 2 weeks. After the first course, many people have a maintenance session every 2 to 3 months, and sometimes every 3 to 6 months, depending on the skin, sun exposure, and ageing. Individual results vary.

PRX-Plus has very little downtime. In the hours after a session, most people notice mild redness, a feeling of tightness, and some sensitivity, and over the next few days a little dryness or light flaking. Most people get back to their normal day the same day, and you should not see obvious peeling when the treatment is done correctly. We will talk you through what to expect and how to look after your skin before any session is booked.

PRX-Plus is most often suggested for adults who want to soften dull skin, early fine lines, mild looseness, uneven tone, and the early changes in the deeper skin that tend to start from the thirties. It may not suit you during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with an active skin infection (including cold sores), on irritated or inflamed skin, with a known allergy to any of the ingredients, with severe dermatitis, or soon after a course of strong acne medication. Whether it suits you depends on your own situation and is decided at a consultation.

Once you have finished the first course, most people have a maintenance session every 2 to 3 months. Some stretch this to every 3 to 6 months, depending on how the skin responds, how much sun you get, and ageing. We work out the right rhythm at your consultation and adjust it over time as your skin changes. Individual results vary.

PRX-Plus contains phytic acid, which helps with brightening, and it may help with surface pigmentation from years of sun. Hormonal pigmentation such as melasma sits deeper and behaves unpredictably. Treating it too strongly can actually make melasma worse, so we take a gentler, more patient approach. Whether PRX-Plus is right for your kind of pigmentation, and how it should sit alongside daily sun protection, is decided at your consultation.

PRX-Plus is generally well tolerated, but like any skin treatment it does carry some risks. In the first day or two, most people have mild redness, tightness, dryness, or light flaking. Less often, the skin can stay red or irritated for longer. You might also notice temporary darkening of the skin, especially on darker skin tones or if it is not protected from the sun. If you are prone to cold sores, a peel can sometimes trigger one. Rarely, problems such as blistering, infection, or scarring can happen, usually when aftercare or sun protection has not been followed. Gentle aftercare and daily sun protection lower these risks a great deal. We talk through the risks that matter for your skin in full at your consultation, and again on the day. Individual results vary. You can read more on our Risks & Complications page.
