Vivace RF Microneedling
Body Dezign House is a doctor-led clinic in Newstead, Brisbane. Vivace is a skin treatment that combines microneedling, radiofrequency energy, and LED light in one device. It is designed to stimulate your skin's natural collagen while improving texture, firmness, and overall skin quality. Before recommending treatment, we take the time to assess your skin, understand your concerns, and decide whether Vivace is the right option for you.
Vivace brings three different ways of working into one session, which is really useful when one face has a few concerns at once. But the device is only as good as the assessment behind it. The depth, the energy, and the light we choose should suit your skin, not just show off everything the machine can do.Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP
Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP brings two decades in cosmetic medicine and general practice to every consultation. She is a Key Opinion Leader for Merz Aesthetics and an Official Trainer for Aptos Threads. This reflects her ongoing role in cosmetic medicine education, including attending national and international conferences, training other doctors and nurses, and contributing her clinical knowledge to the wider medical aesthetics community.
Our approach to RF microneedling is careful and honest. We look at your skin quality, the concerns you have, your medical history, and your skin type. Then we weigh up whether Vivace is truly the right tool, or whether another option or a referral would serve you better.
Commonly
Assessed
Because Vivace works in three ways, it can help with a range of skin concerns: fine lines and wrinkles, loose or slack skin, atrophic acne scars (the depressed, pitted scars acne can leave behind), active acne, stretch marks, large pores, rough or uneven texture, and a general loss of freshness in the skin. Whether Vivace suits you is decided at your consultation.
Three Modalities
in One Device
Vivace brings microneedling, radiofrequency, and LED light together in one device. The 36 fine, gold-tipped microneedles make tiny channels in the skin. The RF energy is released at the microneedle tips, straight into the deeper layer of the skin. The LED light then helps the skin recover (red light) or settles active acne (blue light). So we can work on several skin layers in one session.
Fine Lines, Wrinkles
& Skin Laxity
The tiny micro-injury from the microneedles, plus the gentle warmth from the RF, is what encourages the skin to rebuild collagen and elastin, the proteins that keep skin firm. Often considered for the look of fine lines, deeper wrinkles, and loose or slack skin on the face, neck, and décolletage.
Pore
Appearance
RF microneedling is often considered for the look of large or visible pores across the centre of the face.
Atrophic
Acne Scars
Often considered for the look of icepick, rolling, and boxcar acne scars, the different shapes of dent that acne can leave behind. Because we can change the depth of the microneedles, the energy can be matched to the scar, and the LED light helps the skin recover afterwards.
Active Acne
& Acne-Prone Skin
The blue LED light is often considered for active acne, where the light helps reduce the bacteria that drive breakouts. Together with the microneedling and RF, Vivace can work on more than one thing at once for people who have both active breakouts and acne scarring. When there is active acne, we are careful with the timing and the settings, and we build a plan that suits you across the course.
Stretch Marks
& Surface Scars
Considered for the look of stretch marks (striae) and surface scars on the tummy, hips, thighs, and upper arms.
Suitable Across Skin Types & Body Areas
Because the RF energy goes through the coated microneedles straight into the deeper layer of the skin, rather than passing through the surface colour, Vivace suits a broad range of skin types. It can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, hands, and some body areas, including the tummy, hips, thighs, and upper arms. We confirm your skin type and which areas suit you at your consultation.
Sessions, Preparation
& Recovery
Vivace is usually planned as a course rather than a single session, and we shape it around you: your concern, your skin type, and how your skin responds as we go. What follows is a general guide, just to give you a sense of how it tends to unfold. At your consultation we will tailor the timing, the preparation, and the recovery advice to you, your medical history, and the area we are treating.
Sessions
Before
After
Three ways of working in one device sounds like more is always better. The skill is the opposite. The depth, the energy, and the light I choose should suit your skin, not the full range of the machine. Working out whose skin, whose concern, and whose timing fits that exact mix is the quiet part of the consultation, and it matters most.Dr Fatemeh Asadi MD, FRACGP · GP & Cosmetic Physician

We May Discuss
Vivace is one part of a wider plan for your skin. Depending on what we find, your clinician may suggest one or more of the treatments below, either alongside your Vivace course or in sequence with it. Whether any of these suit you is decided at a full consultation.
Healite II LED
This is a gentle red light therapy, and it is one of the kindest things we can do for your skin straight after a Vivace session. We simply rest the light over the treated area; there is nothing sharp, and all you feel is a comfortable warmth. It is a calm, soothing step that helps settle redness and supports your skin as it recovers over the days that follow.
Skin Boosters
Think of these as a deep drink of water for your skin. Where they suit you, we use them to add hydration and improve the feel, quality, and texture of your skin, working alongside the firming side of Vivace. We are careful with the timing, fitting them around your course and giving your skin space to settle first rather than rushing them into the early recovery days.
Signature Facial
This is our doctor-led, medical-grade facial, and it is a lovely way to look after your skin between Vivace sessions. We tailor it to exactly where you are in your course, choosing gentle, supportive ingredients and steering clear of anything that might unsettle skin that is still recovering. It is really about keeping your skin comfortable, clear, and cared for along the way.
Chemical Peels
A peel works on the surface of your skin, and we sometimes suggest one when uneven colour or dullness is sitting alongside the firmness and texture that Vivace is helping with. We choose the type, the strength, and the timing carefully, so it complements your course rather than overloading your skin. The aim is simply to support clarity and a more even tone, gently.
Clear & Brilliant
This is a gentle laser that treats the skin in tiny, spaced points, and we think of it for surface concerns like uneven colour, tone, and overall skin quality. When your concerns sit across both the deeper firmness side and the surface, we sometimes plan it in sequence with Vivace. We always space the two out, never in the same session, so your skin has room to recover in between.
CO2 Laser Resurfacing
This is a stronger resurfacing laser, and where it is the right fit it can be considered for rough texture, fine lines, large pores, collagen loss, and looseness in the skin. If those concerns sit alongside what Vivace helps with, we are happy to talk it through at your consultation as part of a wider plan. We schedule it separately from your Vivace sessions. Whether it suits you really comes down to your skin type, your concern, how much downtime works for your life, and a proper medical assessment.
CoolPeel CO2 Laser
If downtime worries you, this is the lighter option. CoolPeel works on the surface of the skin with much less social downtime, which makes it easier to fit around everyday life. We might raise it for rough texture, fine lines, large pores, and skin quality, where it is the right fit. As always, whether it suits you is something we decide together at your consultation.
Ultherapy
This one uses focused ultrasound, a gentle sound-wave energy, to reach the deeper support layer beneath the skin. We tend to bring it up when there is some deeper looseness sitting underneath the surface concerns Vivace works on. The two are planned separately rather than combined in one session, so each can do its job properly.
Aptos Threads
These are absorbable threads that gently support the tissue and encourage your own skin to build collagen over time. Where they suit you, we consider them as part of a wider plan for your skin. They are always scheduled separately, never in the same session as Vivace, so your skin is only ever asked to recover from one thing at a time.
Personalised Treatment Plan
After your consultation, Dr Asadi sits down with your assessment and writes a plan that is genuinely yours. It is built around your skin, your concerns, the parts of Vivace that fit you, and the goals you have shared, and it sets out which options suit you best and the order we would work through them. It also explains, just as honestly, how Vivace might sit alongside other treatments and what would not really be right for you. Where it helps, additional medical care may form part of that plan; we decide that case by case, based on what is safe and right for you, and write it into your clinical record. In line with Australian advertising rules, we do not name specific products online.
Personalised Skincare
Once your VISIA skin analysis shows us what your skin is really doing, we build a routine around what is actually there, rather than something pulled off a standard shelf. Where it helps, we can prepare certain formulas in clinic, just for you. The idea is simple: what you use at home should suit your skin and fit where you are in your Vivace course. We check in as your skin settles and changes, and adjust the routine together.
Dermaceutic K Ceutic Post-Treatment Cream SPF 50
A post-treatment cream with SPF 50 we stock, often discussed for the recovery days after laser and needling sessions.
All cosmetic procedures carry some risk and possible side effects. Whether a treatment suits you, what might rule it out, and the full range of possible complications are all discussed at your consultation. Individual results vary. No outcome can be guaranteed. Read about Risks & Complications →

Frequently
Asked
Vivace RF Microneedling is usually considered for adults who want to improve skin quality, fine lines, texture, firmness, the look of pores, atrophic acne scars (the pitted scars acne can leave), stretch marks, or active acne. It suits a broad range of skin types, because the RF energy goes through the coated microneedles straight into the deeper layer of the skin, rather than passing through the surface colour. It is not right for everyone. It may not suit you if you have an active skin infection, are taking isotretinoin (a strong acne medication), have a pacemaker or metal implant in the area, scar easily (keloid tendency), are pregnant, or are hoping for more than the treatment can do. Whether Vivace suits you is decided at a full consultation, in person, not online.
Downtime is usually short. Most people have some pinkness, a bit like mild sunburn, and a little pinpoint bleeding for the first hour or two. This settles to mild redness for a day or two. Some people get a little swelling on the first day, which usually settles overnight. You can normally wear makeup again the day after. How it goes for you depends on the depth and the settings we use.
Preparing is simple. Come with clean skin, with no makeup or skincare on the area we are treating. Try to stay out of the sun for two weeks before each session, and make sure any fake tan is completely off the skin. Strong active skincare, like retinoids or exfoliating acids, is usually paused for a few days beforehand, and your clinician will tell you exactly when. Please also tell us at your consultation about any blood-thinning medicines or supplements, recent skin treatments, isotretinoin use, pregnancy or breastfeeding, the medicines you take, any metal implants in the area, and any history of cold sores in that area.
Most people feel a warm pressure as we move the handpiece across the skin. A small motor guides the microneedles, which helps keep it comfortable, and we put numbing cream on beforehand. The LED light feels like a gentle warmth, with no discomfort. Each session usually takes about 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the area. Please tell us how you are feeling during the session, we want to know.
Yes. We use numbing cream as part of the standard approach. We usually put it on about 30 to 45 minutes before we start. It is part of keeping you comfortable. If you are sensitive or have any worries, let us know at your consultation and we will talk it through.
Aftercare is about helping the skin settle. The basics matter most: cleanse gently with a non-foaming cleanser, use a fragrance-free moisturiser, and wear a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ every day. Pause strong actives like retinoids and acids for a few days. Skip hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, hard exercise, and makeup for the first 24 hours. The tiny channels from the microneedles stay open for about four to six hours, which we sometimes use to help the skin take in the serums we apply in clinic. We see you between sessions to check how your skin is responding and adjust the plan.
All RF microneedling carries some risk. More common effects include redness, short-lived swelling, a little pinpoint bleeding, changes in skin colour after healing (it can go darker or lighter for a time), infection, and a result you are not happy with. Less common risks include scarring, redness that lasts longer than expected, temporary changes in how the skin feels, cold sores flaring up in people who are prone to them, and faint track lines if the settings are not matched well. Your own risks depend on your skin type, the depth and energy we use, the area we treat, and your medical history. We talk through all of this at your consultation, and again on the day.
