VISIA Skin Analysis
Body Dezign House is a doctor-led clinic in Newstead, Brisbane. VISIA is not a treatment. It is a detailed skin camera that helps us understand your skin before we talk about treatment options. It uses different types of light, including UV imaging, to show concerns that may not be easy to see in the mirror, such as sun damage, pigmentation, redness, pores, texture and congestion. Your images help guide your consultation with Dr Asadi or our experienced team, so your plan is based on what your skin actually needs.
An honest look at your skin is the start of an honest consultation. VISIA gives us a baseline that does not flatter and does not exaggerate. It shows what is really there, on the surface and below it, so the choices we make together are based on evidence, not impression.Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP
Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP brings two decades in cosmetic medicine and general practice to every consultation. She is a Key Opinion Leader for Merz Aesthetics and an Official Trainer for Aptos Threads. This reflects her ongoing role in cosmetic medicine education, including attending national and international conferences, training other doctors and nurses, and contributing her clinical knowledge to the wider medical aesthetics community.
Her approach is led by evidence. VISIA lets her pair her clinical eye with real measurements at our Newstead, Brisbane clinic. The plan she builds with you is based on what your skin actually shows, not on what is fashionable or what sells the most treatments.
Eight Skin Features
Quantified Objectively
VISIA measures eight features of your skin, on the surface and below it. Each one is scored and compared with people of a similar age, so you and your clinician have clear data to work from. VISIA is not a diagnosis. It is a tool to help plan your care and track changes, and it supports your consultation rather than replacing it.
Standard, Cross-Polarised
& Ultraviolet Lighting
One short VISIA session photographs your skin under three kinds of light. Standard light shows the surface. Cross-polarised light shows the blood vessels and pigment just beneath the surface. Ultraviolet light shows sun damage and porphyrin activity (bacterial markers linked to acne) that you cannot see under normal light. Together, they give one of the most complete pictures of your skin available.
Spots, Brown Spots
& UV Spots
VISIA looks at three kinds of pigmentation separately. Spots are the brown or red marks you can already see. Brown spots are pigment and discolouration sitting on and below the surface. UV spots show sun damage held in the upper layers of the skin, which is invisible under normal light.
Wrinkles
& Furrows
The lines, folds, and creases that come with sun exposure and a natural loss of skin stretch, measured across the face.
Red Areas
& Porphyrins
Red areas point to inflammation, spider veins, or other blood vessel patterns. Porphyrins are waste left by bacteria that settles in the pores. They show up under ultraviolet light and give an objective sign of the bacteria linked to acne.
Skin Age
& Comparative Analysis
The system uses AI to estimate how old your skin looks compared with your actual age. It draws on a very large skin database. Your scores are compared with people of a similar age and skin type, so you get a real reference point rather than a guess. You can also view any two features, or any two time points, side by side. That makes it easy to track how your skin changes across follow-up sessions.
Texture
& Pores
Texture analysis finds the raised and dipped areas that affect how smooth your skin feels. Pore analysis maps the pores, the small openings on the surface of the skin.
Additional AI Assessment Tools
VISIA can also assess your lips, looking at fullness and texture across the lips and the area around the mouth. It can analyse your eyelashes too, with numbers and clear visuals. As with the rest of the analysis, you can compare any two features or time points side by side, with graphs and numbers, so any plan you follow can be tracked over time.
Capture, Analysis
& Discussion
VISIA imaging is gentle, painless, and quick. It does not break the skin. There is no numbing, no sedation, and no recovery time. The whole process, from taking the images to talking them through, is part of your consultation. Your images are kept securely in your clinical record, so we can compare them at any future visit.

Analysis
Discussion
The skin we see day to day and the skin VISIA shows us are not quite the same. The data is not there to worry you, and it is not there to sell you anything. It is there to give the consultation a solid, honest footing, so the decisions we make together are ones you can stand behind.Dr Fatemeh Asadi MD, FRACGP · GP & Cosmetic Physician

Imaging & Assessment
Options
Treatments Informed
by Imaging
VISIA is not a treatment on its own. Its value is in guiding the choices you and your clinician make together. We use it in consultations across the full range of devices and treatments at Body Dezign House. Each treatment below benefits from the honest baseline VISIA gives, and from being able to measure change at follow-up sessions.
Vascular & Pigmentation Laser
VISIA measures brown spots, UV spots, and red areas. That helps guide the right laser settings and how many sessions may suit you. Follow-up imaging lets us track how well the marks are clearing.
Lumecca IPL
VISIA's data on surface pigment and blood vessels helps us judge whether IPL is a good first step for you, and how many sessions to consider.
Clear & Brilliant
Data on surface pigment, evenness of tone, and texture helps us choose between the 1440 nm Original and 1927 nm Perméa handpieces, and plan the right course for you.
Laser Genesis
VISIA's wrinkle, texture, and red-area scores help guide whether Laser Genesis is a good fit for your skin quality and tone.
Vivace RF Microneedling
Your wrinkle, texture, and porphyrin scores help us decide which parts of Vivace (the microneedling, radiofrequency, or LED) will suit you, and at what settings.
Morpheus 8
For deeper, structural concerns, your wrinkle and texture scores, along with your skin age estimate, help guide the depth and energy settings that suit your skin and your goals.
Ultherapy
Your wrinkle and skin laxity scores help us see where focused ultrasound may give the most structural support within your plan.
Forma
Your skin laxity, read alongside the wrinkle and contour data, helps us judge whether Forma radiofrequency skin tightening fits into a wider plan.
Aptos Threads
The honest baseline VISIA provides gives you and your clinician a shared starting point for talking through structural concerns, before any procedure is considered.
Healite II LED
VISIA's red-area and porphyrin scores help us assess LED Light Therapy (often called red light therapy) for recovery and acne-related concerns.
Skin Boosters
Your skin age estimate and overall surface quality help show whether hydrating, regenerative skin treatments would be a useful part of your plan.
Personalised Treatment Plan
After your consultation, we will prepare a personalised treatment plan based on your medical history, assessment, skin condition, and treatment goals. Your plan clearly explains the treatment options that may be appropriate for you, the recommended sequence of care where needed, expected costs, and realistic timeframes. We will also answer your questions and explain the reasons behind our recommendations, so you have a clear understanding of your options before deciding how you would like to proceed.
Personalised Skincare
Following your VISIA skin analysis and clinical assessment, Dr Fatemeh Asadi or one of our experienced clinicians will recommend a personalised skincare plan based on your skin's individual needs. Your skincare routine is selected to support your treatment plan and may be adjusted over time as your skin changes or your goals evolve.
All cosmetic procedures carry some risk and possible side effects. Whether a treatment suits you, what might rule it out, and the full range of possible complications are all discussed at your consultation. Individual results vary, and no outcome can be guaranteed. Frequently
Asked
VISIA suits most adults who want a clear, honest picture of their skin before, during, or after cosmetic treatment. It is especially helpful if you are thinking about laser, IPL, microneedling, or peels, because it gives a starting point you can measure change against. It also helps if you want to understand sun damage, pigmentation, blood vessel patterns, your pores, or porphyrin activity in more detail than the naked eye allows. It does not break the skin and suits most skin types. We confirm whether it is right for you at your consultation.
No. VISIA is imaging only and does not break the skin. There is no recovery time and nothing you need to avoid afterwards. You can put on makeup, head back to work, or get on with your day straight away. It simply takes photographs under controlled light. There is no energy and no contact with the skin, and the light is similar to the everyday light around you.
A little preparation helps us get the most accurate result. If you can, arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, sunscreen, and skincare. Washing your face with a gentle cleanser shortly before you come is ideal, or our team can help you cleanse when you arrive. We may ask you to take off glasses, contact lenses, and face jewellery during imaging. Please tie your hair back so we can see your hairline. There is no need to fast or change any of your medicines.
VISIA imaging is completely painless. You sit in front of the booth and rest your chin gently on a support. A few quick flashes photograph your skin under three kinds of light: standard, cross-polarised, and ultraviolet. The whole thing takes only a few minutes. The light is bright but quick, much like a camera flash. Most people find it fast and easy.
No. VISIA is imaging only, so there is no anaesthetic, numbing cream, or sedation of any kind. It uses only controlled light and high-resolution cameras. Nothing touches your skin apart from the chin rest while the images are taken.
Afterwards, we walk you through the results on a screen together. You see your scores for spots, wrinkles, texture, pores, UV spots, brown spots, red areas, and porphyrins, on the surface and below it. We may also look at your skin age estimate and how you compare with people of a similar age. The results guide the consultation that follows, including any treatment or skincare we suggest. Your images are kept securely in your clinical record and can be looked at again at follow-up sessions, to compare over time.
For most people, VISIA imaging carries no recognised clinical risks. It uses only standard light, cross-polarised light, and a brief amount of ultraviolet, similar to a small amount of everyday sunlight. Nothing goes into the skin, there is no laser energy, and no medicine is involved. If you are sensitive to bright light or have a condition affected by light, please tell us when you book so we can adjust the session if needed. Your images are kept private within your clinical record. You can read more on our Risks & Complications page.
