Lasting flushing and broad redness across the cheeks, nose, and central face is more of a layer than a set of separate vessels. Assessment looks at where the redness sits, how dense it is, sun damage in the background, and whether other concerns sit alongside it. Surface redness usually starts at 532 nm. The 1064 nm wavelength is considered where the redness runs deeper.

Small visible vessels, called telangiectasia, on the cheeks, around the nose, and across the face. The size and depth of each vessel guide which wavelength suits best and how many sessions are usually needed.

Fine vessels that spread out like a web on the face or legs. Each is assessed for depth, size, and the health of the vessels underneath.
Rosacea
Redness
The visible vessels and redness that come with rosacea, including steady redness, called erythema, and the small vessels that often go with it. Rosacea is a long-term condition that is managed rather than cured. Any laser for it sits within a wider medical and skincare plan, discussed at your consultation.
Leg Veins
& Reticular Vessels
Reticular veins, which are the deeper blue-green veins, fine spider veins, and some surface leg veins sit deeper than vessels on the face. That is why leg veins are usually treated at 1064 nm rather than 532 nm. Larger varicose veins are better suited to surgery or sclerotherapy, so we would refer to a vein specialist rather than laser them. Suitability for any leg vein is decided on examination, taking in the depth, the vessel type, and the health of your veins.

Soft, dark vascular bumps, called papules, most often seen on the lower lip. The diagnosis is confirmed before any laser is discussed.

Excel V has been studied across many kinds of visible vessels and pigment. These include lasting facial redness, rosacea-related redness, broken capillaries, small visible vessels (telangiectasia), and sun spots (lentigines). They also include cherry angiomas, venous lakes, poikiloderma (redness and brown mottling on the neck and chest), and some leg vein patterns. Because it offers two wavelengths (532 nm KTP and 1064 nm Nd:YAG), it has been used across every skin type, from very fair to deep, when carefully matched. It is not right for everyone. Recent sun, light-sensitising medicines, pregnancy, active skin infections, and some pigment conditions such as melasma all need careful, individual assessment. Whether it suits you is decided at a full consultation with Dr Asadi or our experienced team, not online.
Most people have mild redness and warmth in the treated area for a few hours after a facial session. A treated vessel may darken before it clears over the following days; this is part of the usual response. Leg vein and deeper vascular work may leave short-term bruising for one to two weeks. That is why facial and leg sessions are planned differently. For most facial Excel V sessions, you can get back to normal activities the same day. Individual experience varies.
Yes. Cut back on sun for two to four weeks before each session. Active skincare, such as retinoids or exfoliating acids, is usually paused for several days, with the exact timing set by your clinician. Self-tanning products must be completely off the skin. Light-sensitising medicines, recent waxing or peels, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and any history of cold sores in the area should all be raised at consultation. The plan can then be adjusted, or treatment moved to a better time.
What you feel varies from person to person, between wavelengths, and between areas. Most people describe a brief warm snap with each pulse, eased by the chilled sapphire tip, which can be set from 5 to 20 degrees. The 1064 nm light tends to feel deeper and more solid; the 532 nm light feels brighter and quicker. We welcome your feedback on comfort during the session, and the settings can be fine-tuned at later visits.
Numbing cream is not always needed, thanks to the built-in sapphire cooling. Some people prefer it for extra comfort, especially on sensitive areas or denser patterns of vessels. We talk through what you prefer before the session, and adjust it at later visits. If you tend to feel anxious about clinical procedures, or have a low pain threshold, please raise it at consultation so we can plan around it.
Gentle cleansing, a fragrance-free moisturiser, and steady broad-spectrum SPF 50+ are the basis of recovery through the course. Hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and hard exercise are usually paused for 24 to 48 hours. For deeper vascular treatments and leg vein work, extra aftercare such as compression may be advised. Active skincare is brought back gradually, with your clinician's guidance. Reviews between sessions help us watch how your skin responds and fine-tune the plan.
All laser procedures carry some risk. This can include redness (erythema), short-lived swelling, blistering, a change in skin colour after healing, infection, and a result that does not meet your hopes. Some people see treated vessels darken for a time, small bruise-like marks (purpura), and brief bruising at deeper vascular sites; this is part of the expected response.
