Nose & Profile BalanceNewstead, Brisbane
Body Dezign House is a doctor-led clinic in Newstead, Brisbane. Few features draw the eye like the nose, and few do more to set the balance of a face, particularly in profile. Every consultation here reads the nose alongside the forehead, lips and chin, is guided by your own anatomy, and comes with no obligation to go further.
The nose does not sit on its own. What you see from the front and what you see in profile are shaped by different things, and the feature you notice every day can look quite different once we assess it properly. How the nose relates to the forehead, eyes, lips and chin is central to any real discussion of options.Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP
Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP brings two decades in cosmetic medicine and general practice to every consultation. Our approach is careful and honest. We look at what is really driving your concern. It might be the natural shape you were born with, changes that come with age, a previous knock or earlier surgery, or a mix of these. We also look at whether any treatment is genuinely right for you.
Areas Commonly
Assessed
At our Newstead clinic in Brisbane, nose concerns fall into a few groups. Some come from your natural shape. Some come from changes with age. Many are a mix of both. We look at the areas below most closely.
Bridge Profile
& Dorsal Line
The bridge runs from between the brows down to the tip. People notice this line most in the side mirror. A bump on the bridge is called a dorsal hump. The bridge can also sit too low. We check the shape of this line. We also look at the forehead, lip and chin around it.
Tip Shape
& Rotation
The tip is the soft end of the nose. It can look droopy, wide or pinched. It can turn up too much. It can also droop down. Soft tissue under the skin holds it up. It can stick out a little or a lot. We check its angle to the top lip.
Symmetry
& Deviation
A slight lean in the bridge or tip is common. You may notice it. Other people often do not. Sometimes a lean follows an old injury. Sometimes it is part of the natural shape. We find the cause at the assessment.
Skin Quality
on the Nose
The skin on the nose is often oily. It can feel rough or uneven. Pores show most around the tip and the sides of the bridge. Some noses have lasting redness. Some show fine vessels near the surface. We look at the texture, pores, redness and tone.
Age-Related
Nose Changes
The nose keeps changing with age. The tip can slowly drop and look longer. The skin over the bridge gets thinner. An existing bump can then show more. The cheeks also lose volume. The nose can look more prominent as a result. We weigh these changes with everything else.
Nose to Face
Proportion
No nose is judged on its own. It sits next to the forehead, eyes, lips and chin. These features set the balance of the face. We always assess the nose in that wider picture.
The nose plays an important role in facial balance. My goal is to understand your concerns, assess your anatomy carefully, and recommend the most appropriate option, whether that is in-clinic treatment or a surgical referral.Dr Fatemeh Asadi MD, FRACGP · GP & Cosmetic Physician
Your Consultation
in Brisbane
Your consultation at our Brisbane clinic starts with a conversation about your concerns and what you would like to achieve. We review your medical history, carefully assess the nose and side profile, and use VISIA skin analysis where appropriate to gain a better understanding of your skin's condition. We then explain our findings, discuss the treatment options that may be suitable for you, and answer your questions so you have a clear understanding of the benefits, possible risks, and alternatives before deciding whether to proceed. Treatments We
May Discuss
The treatments listed here are examples of what may be considered. They are not a treatment plan and do not mean you will need all of them. The nose is a complex area and carries more risk than many other parts of the face, so we keep the options deliberately small and considered. Whether any option suits you is decided at a full consultation at our Brisbane clinic.
Rhinoplasty Referral
For some nose concerns, a surgical opinion is the right next step. Body Dezign House does not perform surgical rhinoplasty, so where it is the better path we refer you to a trusted Brisbane plastic surgeon.
Nose Profile Balancing
In carefully selected patients, some in-clinic treatments can improve minor shape concerns, such as a mild dorsal hump or a slightly droopy tip. Whether anything suits you is decided at a full consultation at our Newstead clinic.
Aptos Thread Lifts
In selected patients, thread support may be discussed for mild tip droop or subtle changes that come with age. Dr Asadi is an Official Trainer for Aptos Threads. Whether thread treatment suits the nose area is carefully assessed at consultation, and it is not right for everyone.
All cosmetic procedures carry some risk and possible side effects. Whether a treatment suits you, what might rule it out, and the full range of possible complications are all discussed at your consultation. Individual results vary, and no outcome can be guaranteed. Frequently
Asked
Sometimes. Mild concerns such as a small dorsal hump, a slightly droopy tip or subtle asymmetry may be suitable for in-clinic assessment. Whether an in-clinic option suits you is decided at your consultation. Individual results vary.
Nose shape is largely determined by underlying bone and cartilage, which is genetic. A dorsal hump usually involves bone in the upper bridge, cartilage in the middle, or both. A droopy tip relates to the strength and length of the lower cartilages and the ligaments that support them. Asymmetry can follow growth patterns or a past injury. With age, supportive ligaments soften and the tip can lengthen and rotate downward. Both structural and age-related factors are assessed during consultation.
No. An in-clinic approach cannot remove bone, cartilage or skin, so it cannot reduce the overall size of the nose. Making a nose smaller is a surgical question. Whether an in-clinic option is worth considering for your concern is decided at a consultation. Individual results vary.
How long results last varies with the type of treatment, the area treated, your metabolism and lifestyle. Your clinician will talk through what to expect at your consultation, based on the approach that suits you. Individual results vary.
The aim is always subtle balance, not an obvious change. In carefully selected patients, small refinements to the profile can soften a bump or support a droopy tip while keeping the nose in proportion with the rest of the face. What is realistic for you is discussed honestly at consultation, and if an in-clinic option would not give a natural result, we will say so. Individual results vary.
Mild dorsal humps, modest tip droop, subtle asymmetry or a wish to refine the side profile may be appropriate concerns for in-clinic assessment. Candidacy depends on individual anatomy, medical history and goals, and is decided at a consultation. Individual results vary.
All cosmetic procedures carry risks, including bruising, swelling, asymmetry, infection, vascular events, and unsatisfactory cosmetic outcome. Specific risks depend on the treatment and are explained in full at consultation and again on the day of treatment. Full information is available on our Risks & Complications page. Individual results vary.
