Brow Concerns
in Brisbane

About Dr Asadi
A brow is never just a brow on its own. How heavy it looks when your face is relaxed is a different thing from how far it drops when you look to the side, or how it moves when you raise your eyebrows. We look at all three at every assessment. How the brow, forehead, eyelid and temple sit together matters before we talk about any treatment.

Our approach is careful and honest. We look at what is really driving your concern. It might be the brow you were born with, change at the bone that supports it, thinning of the soft tissue, the pull of the muscles, or a mix of these. We also look at whether any treatment is genuinely right for you.

Brow Assessment

Areas Commonly
Assessed

A few different things can affect where your brows sit and how they move. It might be the shape you were born with, the balance of the muscles, the changes that come with age, or a mix of all three. We look at each of these at our Newstead, Brisbane clinic.

Most Commonly Assessed

Brow Position
& Height

Where the bottom of your brow sits against the bone above your eye changes how rested or heavy your face looks. When the brow sits low, the upper eyelid can look hooded and your forehead ends up working harder all day. We check the height of the brow at the inner end, the peak, and the tail, and where the muscles sit when your face is relaxed.

Brow Shape
& Arch

Brow shape is different for everyone. It can be straight or arched, soft or defined, full or tapered. Men's and women's brows naturally suit different shapes. We look at the shape of your brow against the rest of your face, not on its own.

Tail
Descent

The outer end of the brow is usually the first part to drop as we get older. We look at how far it has come down and how that affects the corner of your eye.

Muscle
Balance

Your brow is held up by a sort of tug of war. One muscle in the forehead lifts it, while several muscles around the eye and between the brows pull it down. When the muscles pulling down are stronger, the brow sits lower. We work out how much of this is muscle and how much is structure.

Age-Related
Brow Changes

As the years pass, the bone, the deeper fat, and the muscles around the brow all change a little. The brow can sit lower, the tail can drop, the eyelid skin can look heavier, and the forehead can end up lifting all day to make up for it. These changes often add to whatever shape you started with, so we look at them as part of the whole picture.

Forehead
Compensation

When the brow sits low, the forehead muscle often works overtime to hold it up, and that deepens the lines across your forehead. We look at this together with the brow, temple, and eyelid.

Clinical Philosophy
A brow can look heavy long before you notice it has actually dropped. What people read as tired eyes is usually the brow coming down: the bone above the eye socket losing a little height, the soft tissue thinning, and the muscle that lifts the brow weakening while the muscles that pull it down stay strong. A good consultation looks at each of these on its own, and is honest about when surgery is the better answer.

The Experience

Your Consultation
in Brisbane

Your consultation at our Brisbane clinic starts with a conversation about your concerns and what you would like to achieve. We review your medical history, carefully assess the brow and upper face, and use VISIA skin analysis where appropriate to gain a better understanding of your skin's condition. We then explain our findings, discuss the treatment options that may be suitable for you, and answer your questions so you have a clear understanding of the benefits, possible risks, and alternatives before deciding whether to proceed. Treatments We
May Discuss

The treatments listed here are examples of what may be considered. They are not a treatment plan and do not mean you will need all of them. Your recommendation may include one option, a combination, or a different approach altogether after your brow and upper face have been properly assessed at our Newstead clinic in Brisbane.

Muscle Balancing

Muscle Balancing

There are treatments that can help balance the muscles around the brow and lift the eyebrow into a more open position. We might focus on the area between the brows, over the bridge of the nose, and the outer corner beside the eye. The aim is a balanced, natural result. We work out whether it suits you at your consultation.

Volume Support

Volume Support

This treatment adds support back to the temple, the bone around the eye, and the deeper tissue that holds up the tail of the brow. Where we treat depends on where the support has been lost. The aim is to rebuild what is underneath, not to change the natural shape of your brow. We work this out at your consultation.

Tissue Support & Lifting

Aptos Thread Lifts

Fine threads gently lift and reposition the outer brow and the tissue at the temple. Dr Asadi is an Official Trainer for Aptos Threads.

Ultherapy

Focused ultrasound reaches the deeper layers above the brow to help lift the brow line and a dropped tail. It may suit looser skin, an outer brow that has come down, or the shape of the upper face. A consultation is needed first.

Radiofrequency & Microneedling

Morpheus8

This combines radiofrequency energy with microneedling to firm and tighten the skin above the brow and across the forehead. Worth a chat if you are noticing looser skin, uneven texture, or softness in the upper face.

Surgical Care

Surgical Brow Lift

If the brow has dropped a lot, there is a lot of extra eyelid skin, or one side sits quite differently to the other, a surgical opinion may be the better step.

Every cosmetic procedure carries some risk and possible side effects. Whether something suits you, when it should be avoided, and the things that can go wrong are all discussed at your consultation. Individual results vary, and no outcome can be guaranteed. Read about Risks & Complications →

Questions

Frequently
Asked

If the brow has dropped a lot, there is a lot of extra eyelid skin, or one side sits quite differently to the other, surgery may be the better step.

Two things mostly decide where your brow sits: the bone underneath and the balance of the muscles. The bone is something you are born with. One muscle in the forehead lifts the brow, and the muscles around the eye pull it down. As you get older, the bone loses a little height and the soft tissue thins out. The tail of the brow is usually the first part to drop. We look at all of this at your consultation.

How long it lasts depends on the treatment, your own body, how active your muscles are, and your day-to-day habits. We will talk through what to expect at your consultation, based on the approach that suits you. Individual results vary.

The aim is to bring your brow back to where it naturally sits, not to overdo it. You should look rested, not different. We go over the approach, the technique, and exactly where we would treat before anything is decided. Individual results vary.

Everyone feels things a little differently. We take our time, keep you comfortable, and use numbing cream whenever it helps. We will talk you through each step before we begin. And if clinics make you nervous, just tell us, and we will go at your pace.

Your forehead holds the only muscle that lifts the brow. When the brow sits low or feels heavy, the forehead works harder to keep it up. Over time, that deepens the lines across your forehead. We look at your brow and your forehead together at our Brisbane clinic, rather than treating them as separate things.

All cosmetic procedures carry some risk. This can include bruising, swelling, one side looking different to the other, infection, problems with the blood vessels, and a result you are not happy with. The risks depend on the treatment. We explain them in full at your consultation, and again on the day. You can read more on our Risks & Complications page. Individual results vary.
