Chin & Lower Face ProfileNewstead, Brisbane
Body Dezign House is a doctor-led clinic in Newstead, Brisbane. Your chin sits in the lower third of your face and quietly affects how balanced everything around it looks, from the lips and smile above to the jawline and neck below. Every consultation here looks at the whole lower face, is guided by your own anatomy, and comes with no obligation to go ahead.
The chin doesn’t sit on its own. What you see from the front and what you see from the side come from different things, so I look at both every time. The chin works together with the jaw, the lips, the area under the chin, and the neck. You can’t really talk about options without looking at all of them together.Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP
Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP brings two decades in cosmetic medicine and general practice to every consultation. She is a Key Opinion Leader for Merz Aesthetics and an Official Trainer for Aptos Threads. This reflects her ongoing role in cosmetic medicine education, including attending national and international conferences, training other doctors and nurses, and contributing her clinical knowledge to the wider medical aesthetics community.
Our approach is careful and honest. We look at what is really driving your concern. It might be the underlying bone and chin projection, the balance of the chin with the jaw and profile, soft tissue or skin changes, or a mix of these. We also look at whether any treatment is genuinely right for you.
Areas Commonly
Assessed
Chin concerns can come down to a few things: the chin’s natural shape and position, changes that come with age, or a mix of both. At our Brisbane clinic, every chin assessment looks at these together rather than one at a time.
Chin Projection
& Profile
How far your chin comes forward shapes your whole profile. A chin that sits too far back can make the nose look more prominent and the lower face less balanced. The assessment looks at how far the chin comes forward, its height, and how it sits with your lips and nose from the side.
Chin Shape
& Contour
Chin shape varies a lot: pointed or rounded, wide or narrow. What suits a man’s face and a woman’s face is genuinely different here. The assessment looks at the chin’s full shape against the whole lower face.
Chin
Symmetry
A slightly uneven chin is common. Others may not notice it, but you can up close. The assessment looks at how much there is and how it fits the balance of the lower face.
Texture
& Dimpling
That dimpled, ‘orange peel’ look on the chin usually comes from the chin muscle tightening with certain expressions. The assessment works out how much is muscle and how much is structure.
Age-Related
Chin Changes
With age, the bone and the soft tissue that support the lower face slowly change. The chin can look more set back, the line between jaw and neck softens, and the chin-to-neck transition loses some of its earlier definition. These changes often add to concerns you already had, so we assess them as part of the whole lower face.
Chin-to-Neck
Definition
The line from chin to neck shapes how clean the lower face looks from the side. We assess it together with the chin, jawline, and the area under the chin.
The chin often sits further back from the side than it feels from the inside. What looks like a flat lower face or a set-back profile is usually two things working together: bone and soft tissue. The chin sits behind the lips, the soft tissue follows that line, and the skin settles over both. A good consultation looks at each part on its own. Then I can say clearly what can be helped without surgery, and when a surgical opinion is the right next step.Dr Fatemeh Asadi MD, FRACGP · GP & Cosmetic Physician
Your Consultation
in Brisbane
Your consultation at our Brisbane clinic starts with a conversation about your concerns and what you would like to achieve. We review your medical history, carefully assess the chin and lower face, and use VISIA skin analysis where appropriate to gain a better understanding of your skin's condition. We then explain our findings, discuss the treatment options that may be suitable for you, and answer your questions so you have a clear understanding of the benefits, possible risks, and alternatives before deciding whether to proceed. Treatments We
May Discuss
The treatments listed here are examples of what may be considered. They are not a treatment plan and do not mean you will need all of them. Your recommendation may include one option, a combination, or a different approach altogether after your skin has been properly assessed at our Brisbane clinic.
Jawline Strengthening
We assess how defined and supported your jawline is, and how it sits with your chin and the balance of the lower face. Any options we discuss are aimed at strengthening and defining the jawline so it works in harmony with the chin.
Ultherapy
Focused ultrasound that reaches deeper layers to support and firm the chin and jawline. It may suit concerns about loose skin, definition, or the overall shape of the lower face. This one needs its own consultation.
Aptos Thread Lifts
A gentle lifting treatment that uses fine threads to support and define the chin and jawline. Dr Asadi is an Official Trainer for Aptos Threads, and thread treatments at Body Dezign House are provided by Dr Asadi or her experienced team.
Morpheus8
Pairs radiofrequency energy with fine microneedling to encourage the skin to firm and renew itself. It may be worth discussing if loose skin, texture, skin quality, or definition in the lower face and chin are on your mind.
All cosmetic procedures carry some risk and possible side effects. Whether a treatment suits you, what might rule it out, and the full range of possible complications are all discussed at your consultation. Individual results vary, and no outcome can be guaranteed. A few questions
before a consultation?
If you would rather talk to our team before booking, we are happy to take a thoughtful phone call. No pressure, no obligation. Just a conversation.
Frequently
Asked
Not always. Some set-back chins are better looked at by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, who can advise on surgical options such as a sliding genioplasty or an implant. In-clinic options can help milder concerns, but they are not right for everyone. Whether they suit you is decided at your consultation at our Newstead clinic in Brisbane.
Where your chin sits comes mostly from your bone structure, which is something you are born with. With age, the bone gets a little less dense and the soft tissue around the chin and lower face shifts, so the chin can look different from the side. We look at both during your consultation in Brisbane.
For the right person, working on the chin can help the lower face look more balanced, when it is assessed alongside the jaw, lips, and neck. What is possible depends on your own anatomy, and we talk it through at your Brisbane consultation. Individual results vary.
How long results last depends on the treatment, how your body works, and your lifestyle. Your clinician will talk through what to expect at your Brisbane consultation, based on the approach suggested for you. Individual results vary.
Comfort is different for everyone and depends on the treatment. At Body Dezign House in Newstead, Brisbane, we talk through ways to keep you comfortable, such as numbing cream and a gentle technique, before anything is done. If clinical treatments make you anxious, or you feel pain easily, please tell us at your consultation so we can plan around it.
A slightly set-back chin, a little less definition in the lower face, or a slightly uneven chin can all be worth assessing without surgery. More noticeable concerns are usually referred for a surgical opinion. Whether it suits you depends on your anatomy, your medical history, and your goals, and that is decided at a consultation.
All cosmetic procedures carry some risk. This can include bruising, swelling, unevenness, infection, problems with blood vessels, and a result you are not happy with. The exact risks depend on the treatment. We explain them in full at your consultation and again on the day. You can read more on our Risks & Complications page.
