About Dr Asadi
AviClear does not change the skin from the surface in. It works from the gland outward. The skill of the consultation is reading whose acne pattern, whose skin type, and whose timing actually suit that mechanism, and being honest when something else would serve a patient better.
Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP

Dr Fatemeh Asadi, MD, FRACGP brings two decades in cosmetic medicine and general practice to every consultation. She is a Key Opinion Leader for Merz Aesthetics and an Official Trainer for Aptos Threads. This reflects her ongoing role in cosmetic medicine education, including attending national and international conferences, training other doctors and nurses, and contributing her clinical knowledge to the wider medical aesthetics community.

Across our Brisbane practice, our approach to acne laser is careful and honest. We look at what is really driving your acne, your skin type, and your history. Then we decide whether AviClear is the right choice for you, or whether something else would suit you better.

Clinical Indications

Commonly
Assessed

AviClear has been studied across many kinds of acne and across all skin tones. The patterns below are the ones we most often talk about in a Brisbane consultation. Whether AviClear is right for your skin is decided at your consultation.

Most Commonly Assessed

Active Inflammatory
Acne

Red, raised, tender spots across the face and jawline. AviClear's 1726 nm wavelength is designed to work on the oil glands behind this kind of acne, not just the spot you can see. Whether it suits you depends on the overall pattern, your skin type, and the medicines you take.

Persistent
Adult Acne

Acne that has carried on well past the teenage years, or come back in your late twenties, thirties, or forties. Adult acne often sits in different places and behaves differently to teenage acne, so we look at it in that light.

Hormonal
Patterns

Acne along the jawline, chin, and lower face that flares in a cycle. We look at what is driving it, alongside your medical history, before we suggest any treatment.

Comedonal
Acne

Blackheads, whiteheads, and blocked pores, often with little redness around them. We look at how much oil your skin is making to decide whether AviClear or a different approach fits you better.

Severe & Treatment-Resistant
Facial Acne

Stubborn, red acne that has not settled with creams, or where tablets are not suitable or not wanted. AviClear works earlier in the process, on the oil glands behind this kind of acne. That is why we often talk about it when other paths have been hard going. Whether it suits you depends on the full picture, including the medicines you take and any earlier skin specialist care.

All Fitzpatrick
Skin Types

Because the 1726 nm wavelength works on oil rather than on the colour in your skin, AviClear has been studied across all skin tones, from very fair to deep (Fitzpatrick types I to VI). We check your skin type as part of every assessment.

Treatment Journey

Sessions, Preparation
& Recovery

AviClear is given as a course, not a single appointment, planned across a few visits to our Brisbane clinic. The notes below are a general guide. Your clinician will set the timing, the preparation, and the recovery advice around your skin type, your medical history, the medicines you take, and the area being treated.

Clinical Philosophy
Technology should help the skin do its own work, not take over from the person it belongs to. AviClear works on the oil glands in the people it suits. My job in the consultation is the quiet part: working out whose skin, whose history, and whose timing truly fit this treatment.

Other Treatments
We May Discuss

Some skin concerns respond best to one treatment. Others may need a more layered approach, where different treatments are used to support different parts of the concern.

The treatments listed here are examples of what may be considered. They are not a treatment plan and do not mean you will need all of them. Your recommendation may include one option, a combination, or a different approach altogether after your skin has been properly assessed at our Brisbane clinic.

Light & Healing Support

Healite II LED

A gentle light therapy that can calm inflammation and support healing after a treatment. We often use it alongside laser sessions to help your skin settle and feel more comfortable. Each session is short, and we include it in your plan where it makes sense.

Surface Renewal

Chemical Peels

A range of medical-grade peels can help clear pores, smooth the surface, and calm the skin tone many people hope to see alongside acne treatment. We choose the type, strength, and timing so the peel works with a laser course rather than against it.

Signature Facial

A medical-grade facial that gently clears congestion, supports the skin barrier, and freshens the surface between laser sessions. We adapt it to where you are in your treatment course.

Texture & Post-Acne Concerns

Skin Needling

Skin needling, also called microneedling, creates tiny controlled channels in the skin to prompt it to make more collagen, the protein that keeps skin firm and smooth. We usually talk about it once your active acne is well under control, so the focus can move to the texture left behind.

Morpheus8

Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling that delivers gentle heat at depths we can adjust. We may discuss it to help firm and smooth skin where long-standing acne has changed the texture. It needs its own suitability check first.

Rejuran

A treatment that helps support skin quality and the skin's healing while acne settles. We discuss it in suitable people as part of a longer-term skin plan, rather than as a standalone acne treatment.

Tone & Pigment Support

Lumecca IPL

A strong pulse of light that targets redness and the surface pigment, or dark marks, that often linger once active acne settles. We check whether it suits your skin tone individually.

Clear & Brilliant

A gentle laser used to help even out tone, clarity, and the surface of the skin once an acne course is well under way. We may add it to look after overall skin quality in the bigger picture.

Personalised Plan & Skincare

Personalised Treatment Plan

After your consultation, we will prepare a personalised treatment plan based on your medical history, assessment, skin condition, and treatment goals. Your plan clearly explains the treatment options that may be appropriate for you, the recommended sequence of care where needed, expected costs, and realistic timeframes. We will also answer your questions and explain the reasons behind our recommendations, so you have a clear understanding of your options before deciding how you would like to proceed.

Personalised Skincare

Following your VISIA skin analysis and clinical assessment, Dr Fatemeh Asadi or one of our experienced clinicians will recommend a personalised skincare plan based on your skin's individual needs. Your skincare routine is selected to support your treatment plan and may be adjusted over time as your skin changes or your goals evolve.

All cosmetic procedures carry some risk and possible side effects. Whether a treatment suits you, what might rule it out, and the full range of possible complications are all discussed at your consultation. Individual results vary, and no outcome can be guaranteed. Questions

Frequently
Asked

AviClear has been studied across many kinds of acne and across all skin tones, from very fair to deep (Fitzpatrick types I to VI). It may help with red, inflamed acne, adult acne that has carried on, and some hormonal patterns. It is not right for everyone. Things like current isotretinoin use, a recent skin infection, pregnancy, and some health conditions can affect whether it suits you. Whether it is a good fit for you is decided at a full consultation, not online.

Most people have mild redness and warmth in the treated area for a few hours after the session. Any change you can see is usually subtle, and most people go back to their normal day straight away. Some people get a short flare-up of acne in the days after treatment, and this is part of the normal healing response. Individual experience varies.

Yes. Try to keep out of the sun in the weeks before each session, and you may need to pause active creams such as retinoids. Your clinician will give you a preparation plan made for you at your consultation. This includes a look at the medicines you take, any recent treatments, and any history of sensitive skin or changes in skin colour.

It feels different from person to person. Most people describe a series of warm pulses on the skin, along with the built-in cooling. The 1726 nm laser is focused on one target, which usually keeps the session comfortable enough for most people. Please tell us how you are feeling during the session, and we can adjust things at your next visit.

Numbing cream is not always needed, because of the built-in cooling. Some people like it for extra comfort. We talk through what you would prefer before the session, and adjust it at later visits. If you tend to feel anxious about procedures, or you find discomfort hard, let us know at your consultation so we can plan around it.

Gentle cleansing, a fragrance-free moisturiser, and a steady broad-spectrum SPF are the basics of aftercare. Heat, hard exercise, saunas, and active creams are usually paused for a short time after each session. Your clinician will give you a written aftercare plan made for your skin type and the area we treated. We book reviews between sessions to see how your skin is responding.

All laser treatments carry some risk. These include redness, short-lived swelling, blistering, changes in skin colour after spots heal, infection, and a result that does not meet your hopes. A short flare-up of acne can also happen in the early part of the course. The exact risks depend on your skin type and your acne, and we go through them in full at your consultation and again on the day. There is more detail on our Risks & Complications page.
